MITI
MITI – MITI stands for Member of ITI. The Qualified Member status of ITI – the Institute of Translation and Interpreting in the UK – is for translators and interpreters with a minimum of three years of relevant experience. To be a MITI, candidates must pass a translation exam in one of their areas of expertise.
After being an associate member of ITI for 14 years, Monica Machado applied for full ITI membership, being assessed in Oil and Gas in 2014. Now ITI-qualified as oil and gas translator, Monica is entitled to use the MITI logo in all company documentation and to sign for the company’s own translations – the so-called certification, defined in the previous issue. This is particularly useful when working for solicitors or private clients.
