The first quarterly Newsletter is out

This newsletter aims at keeping in touch with clients and the industry by providing information on different translation issues. It is intended to be informative but also light-hearted. There will be opinion articles, interviews, news about recently launched or tried software and recent CPD carried out, or other technical or translation resources. I will be explaining translation terms translators and translation agencies use but which may mean very little to the client or an outsider. The Recent Project section will be used to illustrate recent areas of work. But there will be a funny side as well. This could be a mistranslation found in the media, a misconception about Portugal, Portuguese-speaking countries or the UK or simply an interesting language subject. This first issue will be decoding the word “expansion rate” and reporting on the misconception of the geographic location of Portugal as seen by Waitrose – the well-known supermarket chain in the UK. There will be also a recipe from one of the countries I work with. For this issue I have selected a blueberry Madeira cake recipe. This is distributed by e-mail to clients and shortly will be published online on this website as well.
