Repetitions
This term is often used in the translation industry to refer to sentences that are repeated within a text. Typically, by calculating the number of repetitions in a text and charging this at a lower rate, the client may make considerable savings in translation costs (depending on percentage of repeated content). However, for this to apply, the project needs to be the same, the sentence has to be an exact match and the format has to be the same. The longer the sentence the higher the probability of a good match, as less words will mean less context and higher possibility of mismatch.
At Monica Machado Translation Services repetitions are charged at a lower rate and then all text considered as repeated is proofread in context to make sure the translation matches the content of the original and is applicable to the project.
